Mystery Kush, also known as Mystery Kush Indica is a strain of cannabis that was one of the original west coast startups. The reason that it is sometimes called Mystery Kush is its mysterious genetic origins. Despite being one of the originals on this side of the ocean, it’s genetic predecessors remain unknown. Whatever it’s past, all sources agree that Mystery Kush has incredible potency, measuring its THC composition at 20-25%.
Mystery Kush has a shape and structure very much like indica. The leaves are yellow-green with orange pistils. Trichomes cover much of the plant with sticky silver coloration, and cold exposure can bring out some purple in the leaves. Altogether, Mystery Kush tends to follow an autumn color scheme with a touch of purple depending on the weather.
This strain of cannabis has an earthy dank scent with just a hint of lemon. When burned and ingested the smoke is woody, spicy, and hard on the lungs and eyes. The exhale remains woody but with a hint of pine. The scent can be quite strong, and it tends to last.
The effects of Mystery Kush are best described as sudden. Starting in the mind and then catching up to the body. This sudden onset of effects is probably due to the potency of this strain. This form of cannabis is relaxing and yet engaging. It creates focus without getting that rushing sensation like you are trying to catch up to your thoughts. Behind all of this is a backdrop of happy, uplifted, euphoria.
This form of cannabis has fairly balanced benefits considering how powerful it is. The effects are rarely overpowering, and there are several of them that tend to have a cumulative effect that enhances activities of all kinds.
Negative side-effects include dry mouth and watery, dry eyes from the harsh smoke. The smoke also has a strong smell that can last a long time. In higher doses, the side effects of dizziness, anxiety, and paranoia can become more pronounced. This increase of adverse effects means that dosing must be done carefully, but the tradeoff is that less is more.
Mystery Kush has a short growth cycle and an average yield, but it is not an easy form of cannabis to grow. It’s height, sticky surface, and sensitivity to certain types of weather can make it a problematic strain, even for experienced growers to master.
